The Power of Self Love

How many of us, are familiar with the power of self love? There is a limiting belief that implies that it is selfish to love ourselves. How true is that? A research from the university of Michigan demonstrated that, “people who like and accept  themselves feel good about life in general and the highest satisfaction in life, is the satisfaction with our self”.  The more we love ourselves, the more happier, successful and fulfilled we are in our lives, as well as in our relationships. People, who love themselves, have eliminated the toxic relationships from their lives and they feel better. They get the jobs they want. They have the money they need and the appreciate life on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, that is not the case for all people. Many of us will not love ourselves until we lose the weight, or get the job, or get the raise, or the boyfriend, or whatever we think is missing from our life. Most of us are programmed this way, from our childhood. Who remembers to be taught how to love herself or himself? I certainly, don’t. In this case, we put conditions on our self love. As a result, life gets through, having this unfulfilling mode, costing us not to be present and to enjoy our daily activities, even the ones that makes us happy.  To me, it’s extremely unlikely that without the ability to love oneself a person can ever be happy. If you’re not on very good terms with yourself, you’re not going to be happy with your life in general.

This can change. We can set the intention today, to make a conscious choice, to love ourselves, as we are right now! Love is something we can choose, the same way we choose anger, hate, sadness or other negative emotions. How can we accomplish that? By focusing, accepting and loving our uniqueness. Also, by acknowledging and accepting our attributes. The world needs the exclusiveness, you only posses. Imagine, how positive our world could be, when we come from a space of great self love and joy, on an individual basis?
